The 70th Anniversary Reunion at Horham was always going to be special – but no-one really knew how special.
Seven veterans and two of their spouses were among the 51 Americans, both young and old, hosted by the 95th Bomb Group Heritage Association. For some it was their first visit to Horham since the war.
For others it was a chance to renew friendships from previous trips. The event was within a few days of the actual 70th anniversary – the 95th officially arrived in Horham on June 15th, 1943. The association’s webmaster Matt Miles had even designed official 70th Anniversary emblems and t-shirts. Linda Woodward and Beverley Abbott, stepping in to take over from John and Kate Kirkum who had organised reunions for many years, spent almost a year organising the event. Their hard work, and the efforts of the countless others involved, paid off and rewarded us with a reunion to remember.
We’re lucky to have so many talented friends here at the 95th Bomb Group Heritage Association. Our good friend Eric Elmer was busy all weekend capturing as many special moments as he could on video.
Always staring down their lenses, Stuart Hunt and Jon Wilson were on hand over the weekend, snapping away to their hearts content! Here is just a small selection of images captured during the festivities
