May will be a month of firsts at the Red Feather Club in Horham with the rescheduled premiere of a documentary and a re-enactors weekend.
May 18th & 19th — The home of the 95th Bomb Group Heritage Association and the official UK museum of the 95th Bomb Group in the UK is holding a 1940s Weekend on Saturday May 18th and Sunday May 19th.
New at the Red Feather Club, Liberation 44 and The Rangers re-enactment groups present a full military camp display and re-enactments of air force personnel. There will also be military vehicles and stalls and the Red Feather Club museum will be open. There is no admission fee. During the weekend (10am-4pm both days) re-enactors will be portraying WW2 USAAF (United States Army Air Force) personnel in basic day to day life. They will be completing close order drill, rifle drill, roll call, mail call and payroll. There will be displays of air force equipment and tents laid out as they would have been. It should be a little like walking back in time and help the public understand day-to-day life in the USAAF. There will be an opportunity for public to handle deactivated weapons and try to learn drill.
On Saturday May 18th there will also be a 40s dance from 7pm until late with four DJs – Texas Tommy, Django Man, Short Back and Sides and & AV8 plus special guest singers Jodie Topsy Harris and Jade Grand.
For dance tickets, £8 per person, please send a stamped addressed envelope with a cheque payable to 95th Bomb Group Heritage Association to James Mutton at Fox Rock, Eye Road, Kenton, Suffolk, IP14 6JJ.
